The Wingfield Story

From a very humble start to a success story that is still going strong, this is the story of Wingfield Motors. 

After completing his Business Degree, the CEO, John van Niekerk, had a basic start by spraying gas bottles after which he transitioned into the fuel industry. Not long after this transition, he purchased his first business, a fuel station in Bellville. Having a passion for vehicles and the business environment, John started buying and selling his own cars. At first, it was only 3 or 4 at a time but it progressed quickly and transformed into a hugely successful used car business called Wingfield Motors.

Wingfield Motors has over 500 vehicles available at any given time on their two showroom floors. With relationships all over South Africa, they are able to source any vehicle for you if they don’t have it on their showroom floors. The first branch opened in Goodwood and to date employs 40 staff members. This branch is run by Martin Lotz with 30+ years’ experience. 

Wingfield Motors opened another branch in Kuils River which employs 30 staff members and is run by Johan White with 25 years’+ experience. 

Their Private Finance division, called Wingfield Private Auto Finance, is run by Dale Pfeiffer with 30+ years’ experience. Private Finance currently employs 8 professionals all of whom are fully qualified in terms of NCA and FAIS accreditation. 

All three divisions are averaging a total of +- 220 vehicles a month. They are an Authorised Financial Service Provider and their qualified Chartered Accountant, Brent Seyfried, heads up the compliance and admin department.

For 30 years, they have been creating a well-respected and sought after name for themselves. They have stacked up several awards from all the major financial institutions over the years for being the top dealership and it is because of this high standard that Wingfield has become known as the champions in the used car industry. 

The Wingfield Motors brand is very strong and they are known for a good deal with “WOW” customer service. To this extent, they have instilled a customer-focused culture with staff to ensure that they are always treated fairly and promptly.

Their mechanical warranty is controlled by Wingfield Motors to ensure the quickest turnaround time as well as payments to the supplier. They have gone even further in their attempt to give their customers the best possible experience by having 9 courtesy cars available to use, free of charge. All this keeps downtime to a minimum and their customers mobile and satisfied.


 This focus is a ‘brand new’ addition to the Wingfield Motors Team.

Wingfield Motors Technical Centre and After Sales-team isn't a 'static' promise - it embraces ongoing efforts to continuously improve service, and equip them with the skills and equipment to take care of your vehicle. The Private Finance division was set up to assist buyers with finance for vehicles that are NOT being bought from a car dealership, that is, the vehicle is being bought PRIVATELY.

  • Checks to establish the vehicle’s engine and chassis numbers match.
  • Checks to establish the vehicle has not been reported stolen.
  • Checks to establish vehicle ownership.

  • Bridging finance to settle the seller's finance (if applicable).
  • Application for finance to the major banks.
  • Mechanical warranties to cover unforeseen mechanical breakages.
